Epilobium anagallidifolium

Alpine Willow-herb

Alpine Willow-herb
aka Pimpernel Willow-herb. The awkward species name is apparently in reference to the inconspicuous nature of this tiny plant. Tufted or matted it reaches little over 4″ (10 cm) tall. The pink to rose-pink flowers are small with petals that are just 1/8″ – 1/4″ long and are notched at the tip. Usually found in wet meadows, along small streams or seeps above 4,000′ elevation.
