Eriogonum compositum

Arrow-leaf Buckwheat

aka Northern Buckwheat. Leafless, unbranched, stems rise straight up to 16″ (40 cm) supporting a fairly large flower head of compound umbels (twice umbellate) with many creamy white flowers. The heart-shaped to arrowhead-shaped leaves are up to 4″ long, green on top and woolly white underneath. Usually found on rocky slopes above 5,000′ elevation.
