Caltha biflora

Broad-leaved Marsh Marigold

Broad-leaved Marsh Marigold
aka Caltha leptosepala var. biflora. Since biflora means ‘in pairs’ it is more likely that this variety would have two flowers per stem than the Elkslip Marigold, C. leptosepala. The C. biflora leaves are also more round in shape. In either case the elegant marigold flower is about 1.5″ (3.5 cm), and is stunningly white. Found in wet, marshy places above 4,000′ elevation.
