Chickweed Monkeyflower
aka Mimulus alsinoides, Little Monkeyflower, Wing-stem Monkeyflower. While very small, growing to only about 6″ (15 cm), the smiling chickweed is a real charmer. Grows to 10″ on favorable ground. The bright yellow flower is distinguished by the small red spots in the center lobe of the lower lip. The spots can vary from numerous pin-point dots to larger botches. The flowers are about 5/8″ long on short stalks. Common, but easy to overlook, and found in wetter rocky areas.
