Rubus lasiococcus

Creeping Raspberry

Creeping Raspberry
aka Dwarf Bramble, Roughfruit Berry, Hairy-fruit Smooth Dewberry. A friendly bramble – no prickles! A key distinction is that the leaves have three lobes, are broad, rough, finely toothed and are one to one and a half inches across (2 – 4 cm). Leaves with five lobes could well be the related Rubus pedatus also called “creeping raspberry” in some sources. The solitary flower can be striking with its five petals surrounding a cluster of many reproductive parts for unlike most roses it is unisexual (only stamens or pistels, not both). Common in the upper forest zone up to 6,500 ft.
