Hooker's Fairybell
aka Disporum hookeri, Small-flowered Fairy-bell. The greenish-white delicate flowers, usually in pairs, dangle from stems which can grow to 3′ (1 m). The stems have few branches and the leaves are quite thin and have a wilted look. Stamens extend well below the spreading petals. In fall, a yellow to orange-red egg-shaped berry appears.Related plant is D. smithii (possibly shown here) where the flowers usually cluster in groups of three to five. Common in moist forests below 3,000′ elevation.
