Epilobium hornemannii

Horneman's Willow-herb

Horneman's Willow-herb
This genus is well represented in the Park with seventeen known species, many with close similaries making positive identification difficult (for us amateurs!). The stems, which are unbranched, grow from 4″ – 16″ (10 – 40 cm) tall. A few pink flowers are found at the top which are nodding or erect (the case here). The four petals are notched and are just 0.25″ – 0.5″ long. The leaves are oval shaped with short stalks and are up 1.5″ long. Found in wet ares, seeps, wet rocks, streambanks in low to middle eleveations.
