Phyllodoce xintermedia

Hybrid Heather

Hybrid Heather
In areas where the Pink Mountain Heather, Phyllodoce empetriformis, and the Yellow Mountain Heather, Phyllodoce glandulifora, grow the two can form a hybrid. The unique evergreen shrubs form large mats which can be 10 – 40 cm tall. The flowers tend to be a pale pink. Uncommon, found in the higher elevations of the P. glandulifora. Probably easier to find in MRNP than in most other locations, as the case here along the Wonderland Trail.
