Anemone lyallii

Lyall's Anemone

Lyall's Anemone
aka Little Mountain Anemone, Thimbleweed. While Lyall’s Anemone is rare in Mt. Rainier NP this flower possesses a key feature for its identification. The stem leaves have 3 – 5 leaflets that are on short stalks whereas the Three-leaved Anemone, A. deltoidea, which is otherwise very similar, has three undivided leaves without stalks. One photo shows six petals, actually sepals, also unusual. Rare, found in forests to 5,000′ elevation.
