Mountain Daisy
aka Subalpine Daisy, Glacier Fleabane. From white to pink, lavender or purple this common daisy defines the subalpine meadow perhaps more than any other flower. Each stem, 4″ – 24″ (8 – 60 cm) tall, usually has one flowerhead which is 1″ – 1.5″ across. Up to 100 narrow rays crowd around a yellow disk. Abundant in subalpine meadows, forest openings and along streams above 5,000′ elevation but also found at lower elevations.
