Mountain Timothy
aka Alpine Timothy, Phleum commutatum. The stems of this grass can reach 20″ (50 cm) in height and each bear a cylindric shaped flowerhead which are often purplish with long bristle-like hairs. Found along streambanks and meadows at higher elevations. Interestingly this grass has a wide geographic distributon found in both the northern and southern hemispheres.
