Microseris borealis

Northern Microseris

Northern Microseris
aka Apargidium, Apargidium boreale, Bog Microseris, Northern Silverpuffs. A single bright yellow flowerhead sits atop leafless stems which are 4″ – 20″ (10 – 50 cm) tall. The flowerheads are made up of a dazzling array of just ray flowers and are 1″ – 1.25″ long with blunt jagged tips. The basal leaves are lance-shaped and about one-third as tall as the stem. Listed as “sensitive.” Fairly common is the Park’s wetter places, meadows, in the upper forest zone, subalpine zone.
