Orange Agoseris
aka Orange Mountain Dandelion, Slender Agoseris. Unlike most composites, but consistent with dandelions, the flowerhead has only ray flowers (no central disk). The solitary head is 1″ – 1 1/2″ (2 – 3 cm) and is a remarkable burnt orange which may fade to pink or purple. Petal tips are squared off with interesting jagged edges. The stems grow to 4 – 24″. Found in open drier areas, grassy slopes, to at least 5,000′ elevation. Also found in the subalpine zone.
