Round-leaf Violet
aka Dark Woods Violet, Evergreen Yellow Violet. Similar to Stream Violet this violet is about the same height with the stems just 1 1/2″ – 3″ (4 – 8 cm) tall. The round to kidney-shaped leaves are normally no more than 1 1/2″ wide with the stem leaves much smaller. Like all violets the flowers are irregular with two upper and two lateral petals which overlap and one lower petal that is larger and distinctively veined. Common in moist to dry conifer woods up to 5,500′ elevation.
