Roundleaf Alumroot
aka Lava Alumroot, Poker Alumroot. Stems grow to 3′ (90 cm) topped by amazing spikelike clusters of cream to cream-green flowers. The basal leaves are rounded, scalloped and are up to 2.5″ wide. Usually found in rocky crevices at higher elevations. (While not included as a separate species in Biek’s “Flora of Mount Rainier National Park” it is mentioned as being similar to the Crevice Alumroot, H. micrantha.)

Photo location: From two locations, one east of Sheep Lake approx. 0.5 mi. east of the park boundary just off the Pacific Crest Trail, the other was found on the Crystal Peak Trail on 7/27/12 within the park boundary (if properly identified that would place it in the Park’s flora).
