Salmonberry
This striking early bloomer seems larger and more brillant in Rainier. A worthy rose the brilliant bright pink flowers, about 1 1/2″ (4 cm), have five separate petals around a distintive center of reproductive parts. The shrubs are large, six to even twelve feet, and form dense tickets. The fruit is raspberry-like and can be either dark red or yellowish orange. The berries and spouts were used extensively by native people often in conjuction with salmon. Common in moist places near streams, lakes, meadows to 5,000′ elevation.
