Campanula scouleri

Scouler's Harebell

Scouler's Harebell
aka Pale Bellflower. The small bell-shaped flowers, about 0.5″ (1 mm) in length possess five recurved (upward curving) petals which are pale lavender with perhaps a slightly darker tinge at the tips. A very distinctive pistel projects well beyond the bell. Interestingly the stems, up to 1′ long, support leaves of varying shapes; rounded at the base becoming narrower and more pointed toward the flower. Fairly common in open and dense forest but easily overlooked. Found between 2,000′ to 5,000′ elevation.
