aka Alpine Phacelia. Radiant bluish violet flowers form dense clusters on hairy stems that can rise to 24″ (60 cm) but usually are smaller (10 – 20 cm) in rocky alpine areas. This is a tufted plant with a woody base with blue-green leaves. The stamens are long and extend beyond the petals giving almost a fuzzy appearance. Found on rocky slopes at 6,500′ – 10,000′ elevation.
