Silverback Luina
aka Littleleaf Luina, Littleleaf Silverback.This beautiful plant has numerous stems reach 1′ (30 cm) tall and form clumps which may be 3′ across. The pale yellow flowerheads are disk flowers only (no rays) and are about 3/4″ broad. The oval leaves are shiny and dark green on top but have white woolly undersides (thus hypoleuca). Usually found on open rocky slopes and ridges, cliff crevices and talus slopes to about 7,000′ elevation.

Species:

Photo location: From several locations but a preferred one is along side the Burroughs Loop trail, others are from the saddle south of Tamanos Mtn. and a clearing at Little Ranger Peak.
