aka Sanguisorba canadensis. The flowerhead is a dense cylindric spike atop long stems rising up to 3′ (90 cm) tall. Leaves are mostly basal with 9 – 17 ovate-oblong leaflets with sharply toothed margins. Found in wet places at mid elevations.
