Nothocalais alpestris

Smooth Mountain Dandelion

aka Alpine Lake Agoseris, Alpine Lake Prarie-dandelion, Microseris alpestris, Agoseris alpestris, Agoseris barbellulata. Narrow lance-shaped leaves to 6″ long have distinctive pointed teeth on their edges; a key feature in their identity vs. the false (Agoseris glauca) or common (Taraxacum officinale) dandelions. The single flowers are up to 1.5″ broad and consist only of ray flowers. Found at higher elevations between 5,000′ to 6,000′ in moist meadows and slopes.
