Anemone deltoidea

Three-leaved Anemone

Three-leaved Anemone
aka Wood Anemone, Western White Anemone, Columbian Windflower. A very showy flower sits atop a stem 4″ – 10″ (10 – 25 cm) tall. Below the flower are three stem leaves in a whorl; toothed but not divided. These leaves are not stalked which is a key feature in defining it vs. Lyall’s Anemone which has stem leaves which divide into 3 – 5 leaflets that are on short stalks. Like all anemones there are no petals, but five brillantly white sepals. Usually found in forests to about 3,000′ elevation mostly on the west side of the Park.
