Tiger Lily
aka Columbia Lily, Columbian Lily. No flower droops as elegantly as this one! The high arch concludes the reach of the stem at a height as much as 4′ – 5′. The flowers are intense: six deep orange tepals which curve dramaticlly upward (recurved), red and purple spots, and dangling anthers and the pistel. Lance-shaped leaves are usually scattered on the stem, however it may also bear distinctive whorls at the base and on the stem. Usually found in open woods in both the forest and subalpine zones.

Photo location: From multiple locations including Naches Peak Loop Trail, Tolmie Peak Lookout Trail, and the Crystal Peak Trial. The specimen in the last photo was found in the deep woods along the Little Ranger Peak trail and shows the distinctive whorls.
