Wild Strawberry
aka Woodland Strawberry, Greenleaf Strawberry. There are three species of strawberry in the Park, one with blue-green leaves and two with green leaves, which are quite similar. F. crinita has a silvery leaf tip. F. vesca is more common and can cover large patches. The smooth leaves have three leaflets 1/2″ – 2″ (15 – 50 mm). The 1/2″ – 3/4″ rose-like flower is distinctive with five tightly spaced petals. Usually found in open woods and along trails to 4,000′ elevation.
