Yellow Monkeyflower
aka Mimulus guttatus, Common Monkey Flower, Seep Monkeyflower. This monkeyflower has a relatively large, up to 1 3/4″ (2 -4 cm), bright yellow trumpet shaped flowers that expand into two lips. The throat is hairy and there are one large or several smaller crimson to brownish-red spots on the lower lip. The stems range in height from 8″ – 24″ (20 – 60 cm), leaves opposite. Common throughout the park and found alongside roads, seepage areas and along streams, usually below 4,500′ elevation.
